Ron Gordon served as Secretary to the Gosport Branch of the Submariners Association from 2015 until 2024. More latterly, her served as National Secretary to the Submariners Association. A faithful and passionate supporter of the SA, Ron has driven change and improvement throughout. He has led the digitisation of the Gosport Branch, taking it from paper records to a much more modern, IT based organisation. He implemented the use of digital techniques for communication, banking, membership and voting. In the last couple of years, he has shared many of the lessons learned with other branches through his role on the National Committee, including the implementation of 'one person - one vote'.

Ron developed an appropriate new Governance approach which ensured a level of rigour that had been lacking. Simplifying a complex constitution, organisational structure, and the decision making required to make the Branch work, he has collaborated well with his Branch Committee Members to drive change and improve the administration and streamlining of the business of the Branch. His approach has formalised the Governance and ensured transparency, whilst enabling better records and continuity planning.

Ron has expended considerable time and effort in his role. A very popular member, he is extremely well respected within the Gosport Branch where he continues to fully support activities and charitable giving.

Ron is most worthy of national recognition in view of his dedication and significant input, not only to the Gosport Branch but to National SA. He has dedicated an unprecedented amount of his personal time to drive success alongside conducted numerous charity events for local charities.
